  By Don Hammonds There is quite a bit of big news from Chevy for model year 2021, from the all-new Trailblazer CUV to the rugged, popular Colorado pickup. And right in the middle of it all comes the return of a familiar nameplate--Trailblazer for the brand's all-new entry into the competitive compact SUV market. Let's take a look at what is ahead: Trailblazer: Chevy's cooler than cool subcompact SUV is, at this writing, the fastest selling car in America. That's a huge accomplishment when you consider that, thanks to the pandemic, the Trailblazer did not really go into production until mid-summer. [caption id="attachment_10905" align="alignnone" width="642"] 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer ACTIV[/caption] It's roomy, has standout styling and design, and it is chock full of all sorts of features and technologies with a price that starts at less than $20,000.  Even a fully equipped Trailblazer with every option in the book will cost less than $32,000 or so. 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will provide a uniquely youthful, yet functional choice in the fast-growing small SUV segment. The Trailblazer is offered in RS and ACTIV trims for distinct personality and styling; it’s also available in LS, LT trims The RS, the sportiest looking of the lineup has a strong dose of Camaro and Blazer in its interior and exterior presentations. It features unique, blacked-out exterior cures with a hexagon black mesh grille, RS badging and dual exhaust outlets with rectangular chrome tips If you're ready to hit the off-road scene, you'll find that the ACTIV model comes with exclusive features to enhance vehicle performance and ride comfort on gravel terrain, including uniquely tuned dampers, Sport Terrain 17-inch tires with all-season design; improved ground clearance and underbody shielding. When you step inside, you'll find a spacious interior which includes 40/60 rear seats that fold down to allow for 54.4 cubic feet of cargo volume. If you want, you can get a fold-flat front passenger seat offers room for objects up to 8.5 feet long. And by the way, for all you long-legged folks out there: Chevy claims that the Trailblazer has best-in-class rear-seat legroom. PERFORMANCE

Colorado: The Colorado lineup will now feature greater differentiation from trim to trim and the addition of the new “Sand Dune Metallic” exterior paint color option available on the Z71 and ZR2 models. All Colorado variants will also include revised front Chevy “bowtie” emblems and embossed “Chevrolet” tailgates in place of the traditional Chevy bowtie on the rear end of the vehicles. [caption id="attachment_10910" align="alignnone" width="646"] 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2[/caption] “We’ve sold 520,000 Colorado pickups in five years through a relentless, foot-on-the-gas approach to product and feature updates,” said Bob Krapes, director of marketing, Chevrolet Trucks. “With its new-look front end and tailgate, Colorado will now have a more aggressive appearance to match its award-winning capability.” The WT, LT and Z71 Colorado trim levels will all receive updated center bars, lower fascias and front skid plates for 2021. WT and LT will feature all-new gold Chevy bowtie logos, while Z71 receives a black bowtie logo. The ZR2 off-road performance variant will receive a new appearance to match its standout capability. ZR2 will be the only Colorado model to feature the all-new, lettered, flow-through “Chevrolet” front fascia. ZR2’s new front end looks even more aggressive, which adds to its dynamic, “segment of one” appearance. ZR2, with its revolutionary, segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSVTM position-sensitive dampers, standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, 2-inch suspension lift, 3.5-inch wider track, off-road rocker protection, cast iron control arms, Autotrac transfer case, and multiple skid plates, will now come equipped with standard red tow hooks as well. The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado goes on sale next year. Pricing will be announced closer to production. All 2021 Colorado models will be built at General Motors’ Wentzville Assembly Center in Wentzville, Missouri. Martin for Chevrolet)[/caption] The first thing that Chevy officials think you will notice is considerably more room--in a vehicle that already was pretty roomy. For instance,  there is 66 percent more cargo room behind the third row of seats in the new Tahoe, and ten more inches of third-row legroom for Tahoe. Driving the two new SUVs also will be a lot more fun, Chevy officials say, and handling, which has usually been more than adequate, is even better now for several reasons. Chevy is claiming that the pair have the most advanced suspension in the segment, with an independent rear suspension paired with available Magnetic Ride Control and first-in-class Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, which provides load leveling at all four corners of the two SUVs, and up to four inches of ride-height adjustment. A look inside shows a whole new ball game of interior comfort, too.  The two SUVs have had a pretty decent interior but it was in need of updating.  Now, you will find upgraded materials, more room, and a dramatically upgraded dashboard as well. There are even entirely new SUV-specific interior offering up to five display screens in total: Standard 10-inch (254 mm) diagonal central color touchscreen, the largest in its segment Available 8-inch (203 mm) diagonal instrument cluster Available 15-inch (381 mm) Head-Up Display, which no competitor offers, according to Chevy officials. Available dual 12.6-inch (320 mm) diagonal rear-seat LCD displays, part of the segment’s most advanced rear-seat media system. You will also find 30 safety and driver convenience features, highlighted by standard Automatic Emergency Braking1 and new features, including HD Surround Vision¹ and Rear Pedestrian Alert. Under the hood, you will find an all-new 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine, delivering an unprecedented combination of refinement, performance and efficiency, along with updated V-8 engines with Dynamic Fuel Management, including the available 6.2L V-8 offering best-in-class 420 horsepower.  Both come with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission for all engines with push-button electronic shift.
