If only all SUVs were as distinctive and full of personality as the Ford Edge.

The Edge, which represents the pizzazz side of Ford’s SUV lineup, is  terrific to drive, easy on the eye, truly comfortable and accommodating to passengers, and, especially with the ST-Line version, has a performance personality all its own.  This, ladies and gentlemen, is the SUV for people who cannot stand SUVs, their blandness and awkwardness on the road.

The big news at Ford for 2021 is one word:  Bronco.

[caption id="attachment_10917" align="alignnone" width="637"] The four-door 2021 Bronco will have available removeable modular roof sections – left and right front panels, a full-width center panel and a rear section. Roof panels on both two- and four-door models can be easily removed by unlocking the latches from the interior to provide the largest overall open-top view in its class to take in the sunshine or to gaze at the …

There is quite a bit of big news from Chevy for model year 2021, from the all-new Trailblazer CUV to the rugged, popular Colorado pickup.

And right in the middle of it all comes the return of a familiar nameplate–Trailblazer for the brand’s all-new entry into the competitive compact SUV market.

Let’s take a look at what is ahead:

Trailblazer:

Chevy’s cooler than cool subcompact SUV is, at this writing, the fastest selling car in America. That’s a huge accomplishment when you …

Which car company gets the gold for the  best mid-sized SUV?

For many buyers and journalists alike, Hyundai’s Palisade takes it.  It is a vast improvement over the Santa Fe XL,  which I think suffered from identity issues with consumers.

The Palisade is a solid value in its class, and I think one of the biggest selling point for it will be the incredibly lengthy and up to date safety technology and other features which you simply cannot find on …

Some things just don’t change often.
And for that, we are very grateful when it comes to the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4 x 4.
No, it isn’t wildly styled as some recent SUVs we’ve seen. No, it isn’t the least bit trendy, even though it certainly up to date in terms of technology and equipment.  Some pieces, such as the UConnect infotainment center, are the best in the industry.
It’s just that when you get behind the wheel of …

2017 Infiniti QX80 and 2017 Nissan Armada: Good cars needing more unique identities

By Don Hammonds

When you see either the 2017 Infiniti QX80 Premium and the 2017 Nissan Armada Platinum, you will likely notice one thing: They are big-time big.

But bigger in this case is truly better, with each of them offering the last word in comfort, safety and hominess behind the wheel. The Armada is a full-size–some might say plus-size SUV that can haul up to 8,500 pounds if equipped appropriately, and the same can be said for the Infiniti QX80 Premium. …

2016 Fiat 500x: Hey, ya gotta love it!

By Donald Hammonds

You know the routine.

You buy a new car and it just seems like the same old, same old. Three Box design, five to six seat space, nothing special on the equipment list, and is so boring that you yawn just thinking about it.

Well—if you can reduce your size expectations, juice your adventure quotient as high as you can, and prepare yourself for a ball of fun to drive–we have a car you may want to look at. And …

2016 Lexus NX: Lexus hits the compact crossover sweet spot

By Don Hammonds

With all of the compact luxury crossovers on the roads these days, you might find it hard to tell them all apart.
Except for one.
The 2016 Lexus NX 200t.
This CUV is strictly its own crossover.

You will probably notice a similarity between the NX lineup and the others out there in a blink of the eye.
Probably you’ll notice that it resembles the RX 350, Lexus’s bread and butter luxury crossover that has been totally redone this year.
The resemblance is totally …

2016 Lexus RX 350: Style leader and then some

By Don Hammonds

Few auto companies can claim a dramatic, across the board styling transformation as Lexus can these days.

No matter where you look, Lexus products are generally at the head of the pack when it comes to contemporary styling with a flair in the luxury business right now.  And that’s a far cry from the days of modestly styled, “good” cars that were pretty much  subdued.

No more. With the striking spindle style grille, the use of what I would call …
