Ford’s 2017 Escape is a classic made all new for this model year.

It’s got all the stuff we all loved about Escape:  Zippy performance, good looks, terrific gas mileage, and a contemporary zest that a lot of its competitors just did not have.

[caption id="attachment_8974" align="alignnone" width="612"] New Ford Escape packs more of what Escape customers said they wanted, including the latest driver-assist technologies, remote connectivity and two new fun-to-drive EcoBoost® engines.[/caption]

Well, if you liked the old one, you’re …

For 2017, Nissan’s popular Rogue is a heck of a lot roguish–lowercase “r” intended.

With more dramatic styling,  big upgrades in the interior, and more refinement overall, the compact CUV Rogue is a big player in the compact CUV market, and for good reason.  It’s right-sized, reasonably nimble in the urban road and highway jungle, it’s very comfortable, and as you can see, pretty good looking–enough to make us think of a small Volvo wagon.

For 2017, there were a …

If ever there was a car that will make you feel like you stepped right into the middle of the 21st century–ion other words, light years ahead–it’s the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

Sure it’s the looks—they are truly unlike anything else on the road, whether you are talking minivans or just any car. But it’s also the wealth of technology, almost overwhelming in quantity and quality. We mean everything from the KeySense system aimed squarely at driver teens, which …

There is much to be said for sticking to your guns in the face of challenges.

That much can certainly be said of the 2017 Chrysler 300C Platinum.

It has a classic styling theme that has held up more than well over the years.  It is arguably the most accessible–financially and emotionally–luxury car involved.  Though its technology is both plenteous and new, and it is chock full of the latest everything, it is presented in a way that is not …

Some things come and some things go, but the Ford F-150 keeps right on going, and it still is America’s No. 1 vehicle, truck or car.

Why?  Durability.  Ruggedness. A four wheeled friend that seemingly can do everything you ask of it—and more.

We got a chance to drive the latest iteration of America’s best seller, and it was quite a revelation.

Some cars I test drive are wheels that I do not wish to give back to the manufacturer.

Volkswagen has an inordinate number of cars in its lineup that  I have tested which I would just as soon keep.

The latest?

The 2017 Golf GTI Autobahn is the latest of those cars.

I have no idea where to begin to explain why this car captivates me so much.  Maybe its the really ultra-cool styling.  VW has managed to make the Golf a …

Wow.

Just wow.

Maisto’s 1:18 rendering of Ford’s incredible new Ford GT is to say the least, stunning.

We are talking top drawer details, design that is painstakingly aacurate, and overall, a big surprise for hobbyists who might not have thought of Maisto when it comes to production of top-tier premium reproductions.

In fact, that’s the name of this new series of models for Maisto: Maisto Premium.

And the company could not have picked a more appropriate car for the unveiling of the …

Hyundai’s Santa Fe is a striking example —-for its competitors—of what happens when you don’t pay attention.

For ages, many car brands discounted Hyundai and did not take it seriously aas a possible threat to their own market share.

Now, here comes Santa Fe.  Its a joy to drive, has every conceivable feature you will ever need–and usually as standard equipment, has good looks, plenty of power, really strong handling and plenty of other attributes.

2017 Honda Accord Sport Touring: A thorn in competitors’ sides

By Don Hammonds

It must be pretty frustrating as an automaker selling intermediate family cars when it comes to Honda’s almost peerless Accord.

While Honda has made judicious additions and refinements in the Accord in it current generation for the last four or five years, it still is the same basic model introduced several years ago. And it is still by far and away the best intermediate family sedan you can buy. Nobody even comes close–and that includes the archrival Toyota Camry.

2017 Kia Sportage: Competitors, be warned–it’s better than good

By Don Hammonds

Kia’s new 2017 Sportage, redesigned for this year, puts everyone competing in its market niche that the Korean brand means business.

[caption id="attachment_8888" align="alignnone" width="612"] 2017 Sportage SX Turbo[/caption]

The Sportage, first of all, outdoes just about everybody in the looks department, and the interior is plenty comfortable, non-threatening, and quite easy to get used to as you own it.

Just about everything, really.
